The Corrective Actions Interactive Journaling® System is a cognitive-behavioral series that strengthens prosocial values and rational thinking. Corrective Actions places responsibility on the shoulders of the individual. Through the process of Interactive Journaling®, each participant develops a system of values and strategies that leads to responsible thinking
and behavior change. Developed for a wide range of criminal justice settings, including incustody programming and community correctional services, this system provides structure and consistency for your program service delivery. It can also be used as a self-directed resource.
The Con Game
This Journal explores how the “con game” may be at the core of an individual’s faulty beliefs and behaviors. The Journal helps participants identify how they learned to play the con game, the myths that support it and ways to confront the con within and move toward personal responsibility and positive life change.
Values for Responsible Living
The Values Journal guides participants through an evaluation of the criminal values that have influenced their lives and helps them weigh the consequences of living a life based on criminal values versus responsible values. Participants will explore honesty, caring, tolerance and responsibility and set SMART goals for the future.
Thinking Errors
In Thinking Errors, participants are encouraged to examine eight basic thinking errors that lead to criminal behavior. This Journal stresses the importance of changing the way people think as the key to changing their feelings, habits and behaviors. They will consider how to handle the reactions of others as they begin to change their thinking patterns in positive ways.
My Change Plan
My Change Plan asserts that all change is self-change. The Journal guides individuals through the stages of change,
providing the appropriate proven strategies for change along the way. Special emphasis is placed on the unaware
(precontemplative) and raising of concern (contemplative) stages.
